Attach thin paper to silk or cotton cloth. This is the backing process.
Spread the CMC glue evenly on the cloth with a squeegee.
Do the same for the thin paper.
Place the two pieces on top of each other and use a roller to remove as much air as possible between them. Then let it dry.
(If there is air in the fabric at that time, you may be able to cover it up later.)
Attach the board to the cloth. I use 2mm thick board (left over from another use in the past).
Calculate the size of the book cover you want to make, cut the board, and then cut the cloth to fit. Even if you cut the fabric exactly right, be aware that the fabric will stretch as it soaks up the glue.
(I don't know how much it stretches, but it's definitely better to have it long than short.)
Sticking the edges of the board inside is another trick. I made a lot of mistakes and learned by heart. The first step is to attach the long side, then the short side, and cut off both ends of the corners of the short side. And then I cut off both ends of the corners of the short side, and then weaved in the corners a little with a nail or something before attaching the short side.
Then, press it to make the board and cloth adhere to each other, and let it dry. This is how you make a hardcover.
For CMC glue, the CMC does not dissolve easily in water, so leave it alone for about three days.
There is a way to shorten the time by using a mixer, but I didn't do it.
